Might have to start calling you Whisky Codfather. Always a welcome catch.

I headed over Virago a couple of weeks ago on a glassy morning. Water was crystal clear (be great to snorkel there on such a day) but no activity. Managed a couple of barracuda and plagues of grinners in other parts of the bay but nothing for keeping.

Thank you, just lots of trying and failures. I go to Virago Shoal almost weekly recently. This is my only option as I have too many domestic duties that do not allow me to be away for more than half a day (including clean up and pre-trip preparation). I found that being early is the single most important factor. Unlike other places, fishing pressure there is high, predators tend to be only desperate just after the sunrise. Rigging it in a "weedless" way is almost a must there to fish close to the bottom without losing all the jig heads.
