Yeah it's been wet alright, going to sit this one out. I've got a big trip planned and have just purchased the plane tickets, more on that later.
I sold Crazy Horse in 2014, got an updated version and still haven't named it yet, yeah been pretty slack lately.
The deeper water is about 4-5km out ESE and drops down to 90M, I've been doing some map recon on the Navionics web sight.
Time spent on reconnaissance is time never wasted.

Not sure I have enough line to get to 90m on a kayak rod!

Would like company going out 4-5km...

From memory plenty of good fishing ground in closer. But won't rule out heading out a little deeper if the conditions a right. Anyone else coming along? It would need to be group consensus, as I wouldn't want to leave anyone behind.

Wayne, you need a bigger reel.
Yes company would probably be a good thing and comms a must, however, I've been a lot further out than that by myself. It's just what your comfortable with and you have the right safety gear (don't get me started on that……..FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!!!!!!!!!!).
If you look at the capability of the AI with a wind to drive it, it's not such a big deal. As long as the weather is right it's quite safe, and your fitness levels are up to the task also.(in case of a Pedal home)
JohnH and I have had some great times at Jervis, and we were out quite a ways.
I'm off to Vanuatu next month with a mate who lives over there. I sold him 2 yaks and we have been planning this trip for a while now. I'm looking at Doggies and Sailfish, hopefully from a yak (Tarpon 140). The water will be deep and the string long so I hope we can succeed in some splendid big stuff fishing.

I still may come down just for the day, but, we'll see.

The weather is looking ok for Sat and Sun, although the afternoons look like the wind will be up a bit. That's fine by me as the mornings will be plently enough for a fish. In the afternoons I can call it quits or go for a sail in the AI.

At this stage I'll be aiming for a sunrise start on both days from the South Durras ramp.

Departing Qbn 0600hrs Sunday, heading back Tuesday afternoon is the plan.

Thinking about upgrading, shouldn't have dropped into Wetspot this morning...

I arrived a few hours ago and set up camp. The weather for the morning is looking pretty good and I still plan to be at the ramp around dawn for a pre-fish. Although the footy is on tonight and I've cracked a bottle of red so I'll see how it goes :egrin:

The guy in a Harry's Tackle reckons the snapper are on the chew. :gu:

I'll give an update tomorrow night.

Wayne, the new AIs are awesome - you know you want one.

Good to catchup John. I didn't get around to the area you suggested before the weather started changing. No fish but a good few hours on the water, had a few bumps on the troll but too busy enjoying the run under the breeze. Was going out tomorrow, but the up rudder control line snapped as I was packing away. Too much sunshine must have weakened it. Will see if I can get some line tomorrow. I'm going to replace all the control lines to be sure to be sure.

Bob, I'll be in Wednesday morning to put deposit on the AI.

No worries Wayne, you'll notice the difference. My day off on Wednesday, see Scotty. We have spectra line in the shop too.
Another nice one Johnno, they're in great condition. There looks to be a few on the sounder too mate.

It was certainly nice out on the water and a nice change to get consistent wind for some good runs under sail. Unlike the gusty winds we get here on the local lakes.

I would have liked to spend another week down there. Damn work :grr:
