2017 Cod Classic

Postby Codclassic » Wed Sep 06, 2017 11:51 am

G'day all.

Here we go again! Organisation is well underway for this years Cod Classic - Lake Mulwala, Deember 1-3. Once again we are hosting the "Australian Canoe & Kayak Cod Fishing Championships" (ACKCFC).

In the past we have had great representation from member of KFDU with 2012 seeing team "Team YAK Fishers" win best represented group / club. It would be great to see those numbers back once again.

Entry forms are now available for the Cod Classic at www.codclassic.com.au If you are chasing an ACKCFC entry form you, will need to e-mail me codclassic@bigpond.com and I will send one out.

For any other info feel free to give me a call. Happy Fishing :-)

Cheers

Hey guys - might pay to bring ya raincoats - weather between now and weekend going to be shocking. Most of Vic will be on flood watch. Thunderstorms could also make it interesting.

Typical of the weather gods doin their best to ruin a good weekend!

Good luck anyway and stay safe!

Oh Dear ... the weather has stuffed the comp yet again - big winds swept the lake last night, causing big waves that totally swamped at least 5 boats outside the Camp. Check out Bill Woods' Facebook Page to see the video he took this morning. It is very graphic - sunken boats & all the fishing gear floating around the moorings .....

Most yakkers stayed on shore tho a couple went out - and landed at least 1 cod ...

Stay safe, boys!!

cheers

Yes Mulwala turned it on for us. As usual the event was a "must do at least once" affair. Tony and the crew put on a fantastic job catering for so many. The weather..... well it was terrible. Yesterday started by helping out the boaties before Pat, Terry and I decided to have a go. At the end of the day 4 small cod were caught but unfortunately don't count as they need to be a minimum of 55cm. In the conditions around all the sunken timber it was tuff going and full attention was required to stay upright. Maybe a better way to go would have been to travel further up the lake to get out of the wind. This morning the wind was blowing consistently hard so there was no fishing for team yakfisher. It is a rare event for Fletch to pull the pin early and that is what I did.
Again the company was first class and am looking forward to next year.
I will put up some photos when I get a chance.
