2018 Cod Classic

#1 Post by Codclassic » Wed Aug 22, 2018 3:13 pm

G'day all KFDU members.

Once again, organisation is well underway for this years Yamaha Cod Classic - Lake Mulwala. The event will be held on 1st & 2nd December.

Again we will have the "Australian Canoe & Kayak Cod Fishing Championships" held withing the Cod Classic for an additional $10 entry fee. It would be great to see the strong band of "Team Yak Fishers" back together again as in the past. To enter the ACKCFC is an additional $10 on top of the Cod Classic entry fee.

If anybody is chasing any additional info feel free to give me a call on M 0439 441667 or e-mail codclassic@bigpond.com

The following is our official media release for this year.

2018 Cod Classic - "Rain, Hail or Sunshine"

Excitements building in the lead up to the 19th Lake Mulwala "Yamaha Cod Classic" fishing competition. Off the back of a 2017 tournament that was decimated by dire weather forecasts that never eventuated, this year is going to be huge, rain, hail or sunshine! The Cod Classic celebrates the opening to Cod season and is an iconic event on the Australian fishing calendar not to be missed.

An estimated 3000 anglers will be looking to share in the staggering prize pool that totals in excess of $200K. Seven boating packages, a Toyota Hilux Ute, the chance to spend 30 seconds in a cash grab machine, a list of major goods to long to mention along with 1000 plus minor lucky door prizes, the majority of competitors will be going home with a smile on their face. Amazingly, after the completion of this year's event a staggering total of 110 boating packages will have been given away through the Cod Classic.

An enticing prize of a $60K Toyota Hilux Ute is on offer for any competing angler who manages to catch "Rod the Cod" a specially tagged Murray Cod, no strings attached! Simply catch "Rod" and present him to tournament officials to claim your thanks to Yarrawonga / Mulwala's newest business - Yarrawonga Toyota.

Designed for the family with all levels of fishing skills catered for, everybody has a chance of winning one of the many great prizes on offer weather fishing from boat or bank, using either bait or lures. Majority of prizes are randomly drawn with you not having to catch a fish to be a winner! Those that are lucky enough to register either a legal size Murray Cod or 45cm+ Golden Perch go into additional draws to win extra great prizes.

Entry fee, Adults $95 pre paid / $100 on weekend and juniors $50. This includes four meals, souvenir stubby holder, a free ticket in major boat raffle, Wilson Slickback lure & Bassman Spinnerbait (for the kids), entry into 1000’s of lucky door prize draws and the promise of a great weekend.

Being ran in conjunction with the Cod Classic is the “Native Watercraft" Australian Canoe & Kayak Cod Fishing Championships. Entering its eighth year, this event caters for the new breed of fisherman who chose to fish from either a canoe and kayak choosing paddle and Pedal over petrol and power.

The “Fishing & Outdoors” expo will be a main feature with the chance to grab a bargain not to be missed. Other popular parts of the competition include iconic entertainer “Flathead Fred” for the juniors; “Cod Talk” with Rod “Codmac” McKenzie and the Samurai Rods Australian Pro Casting Championships.

You would be crazy to miss this iconic event held at the home of the Murray Cod - Lake Mulwala. Sharpen your hooks, pack the boat, grab your swag and baton down the hatches as the 2018 Yamaha Cod Classic is going to be HUGE! See you all in Yarrawonga / Mulwala for the chance to “catch a legend”.
