I don't want cool!
Have some of the chem ones that came with a pair of gloves, but don't think they'd be comfy in my socks/boots.

Some are specifically for boots. e.g. http://www.traveluniverse.com.au/Adhesi ... oCM5vw_wcBspork wrote:Have some of the chem ones that came with a pair of gloves, but don't think they'd be comfy in my socks/boots.

Possum socks.....I reckon they'd be good for climbing the tree to get your lure back after a wayward castspork wrote:Wool is one of the few fibres that is warm when wet - not as warm as when it's dry, but better than most.
Possum fur/wool blend is also excellent, the possum hair is hollow, so it also retains good insulating properties when wet.
I have some socks made from this blend, they are warm and incredibly soft, but not really thick enough to be the warmest socks I have.
Have been eyeing of a pair of these to slip inside the waders. (yes, waders, finding them, the old neoprene ones, warmer than the Lovigs in the de..ad of winter).

Probably no good if your feet are going to get wet though.

Cheers & tight lines

I wear teko socks as my winter cycling socks and in wet weather. I am a big fan of merino wear. As others have said, it might not have the instant warm feeling of synthetics, but it doesn't smell - even after a week, stays warm when wet, and doesn't overheat like some do.

Alpaca! Beats all the other fibers hands down. Got mine years ago from a farm gate sale in Victoria. Can't remember where. Being from Qld I feel the cold. Have worn them at altitude on top of an Austrian mountain in a blizzard and by far the warmest socks ever. Warning, it has to be very very cold to wear them.

Elite Prowling for anything that smells fishy.
