Re: First Kayak - Glide Reflection

Hi Birdie, Your "dashboard" should do the trick for your needs. Can't you mount the rod holder closer or can you easily reach it from there? Why didn't you mount the transducer inside the hull for a cleaner finish? Here's a pic of my "dashboard" not including a few mods since this was taken (e.g. cu...

Re: Back To Glass

Welcome back to (c)glass Mick. Sounds like you sold your Revo. Stability, ergonomics and tracking are more important to me than speed with a fishing yak. Got all that with my Kaskazi Dorado II Fortunately you don't have to compromise the speed factor with the option of taking out your K1 speed machi...

Re: Passing under a Jetty or Pier - where has out manners go

Unfortunately encountering idiots and inconsiderate people is not seasonal. If it was, we would at least get some temporay relief. Just be appreciative that you consciously don't think or act like they do and always be prepared to demonstrate patience with their short-comings. Sounds like the jetty ...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

....This somewhat comical error is getting a life of its own........ hahaha, Paul ..... that happens sometimes, eh? WELL DONE on a few marathon efforts! I am in awe of you! Yes, Nigel seems to have started something - I guess once you start, you just get into the rhythm of things & the time just fl...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Haha... Cheers Paul. Yes, this marathon thing gets addictive. Last race of the season down in Wagga Wagga this weekend on Lake Albert. The old Bidgee is in flood so that's off the agenda. Speaking with Dennis T last week, the one thing I really miss since I got rid of my Pro Fisha 575 was the screa...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Well done Ricoh. Completed the Myall Classic Ultramarathon on Saturday Tea Gardens to 13.5km turning point up the Myall River and back. 27km all up in 3:05:23 with no breaks in a 25kg Mirage 580 Sea Kayak. Average speed 8.8kph and highest speed 11.4kph. Got into paddling long distances when I bough...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

This somewhat comical error is getting a life of its own. :?: It appears to me that earlier on, GBC has unintentionally confused both Pavo and Slick Mick about who they attempting to reply to in this post. GBC was trying to tee up a paddle with Richo in Hervey Bay (within this post) instead of sendi...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

My September goal has been met. 26.02 Kilometres in 4 hours 40 minutes paddle time plus 11 minutes total rest/eat/drink time. Approx. 2 hours to reach the turn around mark assisted by strong winds and tidal current. Flying ! Approx. 2 hours 40 minutes for the return journey against the tide and stro...

Re: Back problem, injury - during loading kayak up to your c

I Now agree with Lazybuggers concept of leverage . An edit was required here as I have strained my shoulder lifting the kayak onto the racks . I was fine for 18months lifting the profisha up onto one shoulder , but I've recently purchased lock racks and looking into the loading bar that fits onto t...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Thanks guys.
Yeah Richo, we might be able to tee up a time to paddle one of my local rivers if you like.
If the weather is okay, an ocean paddle might be on the cards instead.
I'm about to reshuffle my daily life activities this month, so will make contact once it's settled.

Re: This is how Mangrove Jacks attack live baits ......

That blighter belongs on a plate or back in the wild, not in a tight fitting tank of water.
He looks not only hungry but angry. Can't blame him really. :?:

Another 20+kilometre paddle

Nigel, I 'm blaming you for this 'long distance paddling bug' I seem to have caught. As a result I've recently set a personal goal to repeat my (solo) efforts by doing a 20 klms + paddle at least once a month. I've tried trolling on these long paddles without success, so I've decided to focus on jus...

Re: long troll

After trolling for distance on my stealth yak ... the only thing I can think of is that you were trolling a soft plastic, not a bibbed lure. Even if I put the gold bomber behind the yak, it really does add the resistance to the paddle. I've paddled 42+km a few times, but never with a lure out the b...
