Re: Best Yak around $1500

The viking is a great unit. Im 6ft4 and had room to spare when i tested one. Dont think theres anything else to look at in the price range with similar features other than an ocean kayak prowler ultra.

Test paddle time. That should help you pick the differences and what suites your style.

Re: Viking Kayak Serial Numbers.

The factory is up the sunny coast. Suggest you call kayak and sup warana as their retail outlet.
Otherwise theres a Facebook group that could help....or pm paddleguyjas

Re: Jigging Rod

Good info. I've heard the rods are alot slower taper making them the go for getting the best from jigs.
Coincidentally I'm off to that fishing shop today to get myself a jigging outfit

Re: Hobie pa 14 vs ocean kayak prowler ultra 4.7 off shore w

Out of those, I'd go the prowler because it'll have better secondary stability if the weather turns bad....and I like paddling. Also add the viking profish reload and the entire stealth, clarkeski and pinnacle ranges to your possible paddle powered options.

Re: Rainbow Beach Longtail Tuna frenzy

What a great report. I watched your vids on the weekend while deciding whether to take the plunge on buying a Reload. It may have just ticked me over the edge into saying yes! Got me really keen to get out onto the ocean and catch some serious fish. It may take a while, but thanks for a great video...

No worries. There's some good explanations around if you get keen on knowing more

Re: Using a PWM in a slightly different way?

Look up the graph difference between low and high duty pwm. If it goes to 100% your basically just leaving the fets full on. I only see benefits at low speed settings of your pwm as compared to a linear supply. Hard for me to explain with drawing graphs etc.

Re: Using a PWM in a slightly different way?

So you'll be running the pwm on full on duty regardless.....it doesn't make sense to me

Re: bribie island offshore

Mostly caught school mackerel. I've heard of tuna, but not recently. Imagine the tailor will be there at some point.
Keen to check the nets and beacon this winter to see what's around.

Re: (PWM) pulse width modulator efficiency

In comparison to a linear supply pwm is more efficient, especially at slower motor speeds. Heat (power) dissipation in a linear supply (think big variable resistor) is much bigger than say your fet driven pwm set up.
