Big Turtle

Hooked up a big Turtle today ,got towed for ages could only take in line as it came up to breath , got it as close as I could but was immense so I eventually cut the line . It took a Pilchard Bait and just 10 minutes before caught a good size Grunter at the same spot with the same Bait ! As an aside...

Re: Golden Trevally

Just this hardbody with a bit of reflextive strips added, with the middle treble taken off so it might be a bit easier to get off a Shark if hooked .

mirage fishing freeride 583 Rudder

I just thought I'd post a few photo's of my Rudder . I Fish out if the 583 mainly trolling and the Rudder is very short especially as the Mirage has a big rocker so the Rudder is out of the water a lot! and I feela bit iffy in it sometimes . So I had the idea of extending it. I have never used fiber...

unusual catch

Took a long long time to get the turtle up and to shore so I could get the trebles out ,if it was a single hook I would have probably cut the line . Helped it back in and it swam off ok. On the plus side I know I have a super knot for sure!

Doggie

Went out to maggie last week caught a couple of Doggie Mackerel! The first I've caught the only thing is they were both hooked in the side behind the gills as if they attacked the lure from the side and the rear of the lure swung around ,because they were foul hooked I thought I had a much bigger fi...

Re: Townsville Kayaker stalked by croc off beach

I wish there had been a bit more information in the news article ,such as when he first see it did he paddle towards it or away, did the croc swim towards the Kayak when it first sunk out of sight . He said it came up about 20 metres away ,did it come at the Kayak or did he paddle towards and into i...

Re: Saturday trip around Maggie

I know this is an old post but was rereading it and that bit about going around anti clockwise so the swell helps on the last leg. I thought the swell mostly comes from the cape direction so wouldn't you be getting it side on if coming from west point to the ramp. I'm only trying to pick up a bit of...

Re: Before you Hobie Hatch your Stealth just be aware .... .

I am so glad I that I read this post as I was thinking about changing the rear hatch as well . I will never be in Surf but that being said I certainly wont install a hatch that can just pop open . Thanks for the post.

Re: croc

I went out Wednesday morning did the middle reef ,virago shoals back to the ramp trip , couple of good bites but no hook ups. A nice day out on the water except when I seen a dark object about the size of that head, kept my eye on it and didn't get close, I really think it was a bit if wood but I wa...
