Re: Stealth Evo 465 or 495

Unless they have changed the moulds over time, there are a couple of key differences in these yaks. First question is what is your size? 495 suits a bigger bloke a lot better. Its more stable and better balanced. But if you are like me say 5'10" and only 84kg, the 495 is less efficient. You sit lowe...

Re: Kayaking safety hints/requirements

Paddle floats are less use than you might think, and no use if your yak dorsnt habe a method of slipping your paddle through ties to keep it in place. I pack one for my sea kayak but its piintless in my (fishing) ski.

Re: Kayak found washed up. Lake Illawarra.

I wonder if the hatch was off when it was recovered. A flip with the hatch off may have led to abandonment? Hatch off is telling. As a note, hatch off may mean swamped, but most yaks will still float. Paddler is generally better off to stay with it. Easier to find a yak than a yakker. Missing kayak...

Re: Creating my own kayak company

Suggest you look through feasability of plastic before committing much. Roto moulds are extremely expensive, as is the kit to manufacture. That cant really be modified if you decide something needs tweaking, have to build a new mould. Once you are there they are very cheap per unit to produce. Glass...

my apologies, I had linked to the Odyssey. The Oracle is still too rounded for my taste but it wouldnt push me over the cost differential.

Re: Which paddle

Sorry to do this to you but the Adventure Tech, all of them, dont grab me. I havent paddled them, but the shape is targetting low angle paddling and you just dont need that with the lengths you are talking about. Its not the the werner is worth the extra money, just that its an apples to oranges com...

Re: Which paddle

For europaddles (flat blades) I would consider the following to be the big names: x Werner, probably the biggest; x Lendal x Mitchell I also like the look of Celtic, but have never had a chance to handle them. FWIW I have a Mitchell Bombora and a Mitchell Greenland stick, though today I would want a...

Re: Which paddle

Ps. If the adventure technologies oracle is the best option ($450 for bent shaft) I may consider going outside of my budget. Firstly, your current paddle was a really good choice. Much better start point than I had. Your new yak is wonderfully slim (for a fishing yak). This reduces a lot of the low...

Re: Which paddle

Jamie, I'm interested in your experience with Blitz v Enduro. Outside of the times you got hurt, how is your paddle experience with these blades? Hi dru , You make hard criteria for emotion free feedback when you say "outside of being hurt " because as anybody can attest when a paddle has taken you...

Re: Which paddle

Go flat, square assymetrical. Ditch carbon, go glass. But you would know this of my opinion with a short search.
