Re: Customised stealth splash

Since you bought and set it up as a trolling machine - why not get an alvey trolling reel . I use one when conditions turn to crap and it does not care about getting a dunking hey yaqdog, I've kept this post in mind. Now one of my trolling reels is on its way out, im thinking of replacing with an a...

Re: Another south coast red

Lovely snapper!

Wondered what you were using to catch slimies? Haven't had much luck so far with my sabiki but maybe just not around when I have tried

cheers

Re: Lake Weyba - Sunshine Coast trip. Advice?

I fished there a few months ago to no luck. After doing some digging it seems it was fished out commercially (used to be a haven for big flatties) and is very shallow and muddy these days. I think the river leading to the lake still holds jacks though

Re: pilot boat safety

That's not cool at all, what a plonker.

My pet hate is the stinkboats that speed right past you so their kids can give you a wave, while you panic to make sure everything is in the hatch incase you turtle. I don't wave back.

Re: totally sweet lips

Thanks all I'm always happy ticking a new species off, specially as looks like might be moving away from the coast and there's such a great range of species here. Hoping to have the gopro sorted for some on water shots soon too for the stuff I toss back etc. It was sure was really tasty, better than...

totally sweet lips

Bit of a delayed trip report from sunny coast last thursday and it was the first time I've seen good surface bust ups this summer but very skittish and didn't last long. I was sure tired and groggy and almost switched the alarm off when it buzzed at 2:55am but very glad I didn't as conditions were p...

Re: Shimano TLD 20 - windback/playback

1/8th of a turn would be my guess. It seems the reel clicks through when winding, and does this 8 times on a full wind. Each time I go past a click, the reel is able to wind back to where the previous click occurred.

Hopefully that makes sense, could attempt to video it perhaps

Re: anchoring up on the ocean

Often fish in around 20-25m of water in my stealth Have my drogue attached to anchor trolley which allows me to shift it a bit as the wind changes. Haven't found need for pool noodle, find its easy enough to dip hand in and grab the end of it During a hookup if my rod is out the same side I bring it...

Re: Shimano TLD 20 - windback/playback

Just thought I'd say that I also have a Shimano charter special, which from my understanding is pretty much exactly the same except the charter special has a line guide

The charter special doesn't have any windback/playback/reversal at all. It's actually become my favourite reel :)

Shimano TLD 20 - windback/playback

I've noticed my TLD has quite a large amount of windback and wondering what I need to look at when pulling it apart. Basically when winding you can hear the gears click and if you stop just after a click, the reel will allow itself to reverse quite a ways. It's mostly annoying when setting up to put...

Re: Newbie from Noosa

Welcome, great to see more people from my neck of the woods.

I live down in Coolum and fish offshore from Noosa quite a bit, there's the noosa yakkers group (google em) who are mostly offshore but they have guys that fish the river also so worth checking in with them too.
