Nice fish. Im sure it took you for a ride.
How far off shore are you?, that looks deep.
Not sure I have the kahunas to wander to far away yet.

Probably a nautical mile offshore. Don't really measure, normally following the birds.

Early morning Mack Tuna

A nice Mack Tuna I caught this morning before work. Also caught a smaller spotted mackerel, perfect for the pan. Happy days.

A grunt, grunt of a day..

Another beautiful morning on the water the past weekend and the fishing did not disappoint. 3 Grunter, a small GT (estuary model) and a #$%&* Toad fish, which destroyed my favourite soft vibe.

Summer Tuna - Bundaberg

Heard the tunas were still in the area and got on the water early this morning for a quick paddle before work. As per previous trip got in between them but struggled to get them to take a lure. Eventually got one on a hardbody, friend of mine got a couple mac tunas. Longtail Tuna.JPG Another beautif...

Fingermark, Grunter and more

Tried a new creek yesterday morning in the Bundaberg area. While there were too many boats for my liking the fishing was not bad and I got a nice Fingermark, a few Grunter and a small Trevally. After a bit of rain last night, and seeing that the forecast was for light winds, I went for a quick paddl...

Solid Grunter

With us having a holiday in Queensland today I visited one of the local creeks again to chase Mangrove Jacks. Lately I got a few nice ones (refer to recent posts) the weather was perfect this morning, not a breath of wind. After catching a few smaller Jacks and a Qld Groper I managed to land a solid...

Jacks and more...

After a few days of windy conditions the forecast for this morning was good. Fished one of the local creeks chasing some Jacks after catching a couple of nice ones last weekend. The Jacks again did not disappoint and I got a couple of good ones as well as a very nice Fingermark and few other firsts ...

Spring Jacks

With the warmer weather upon us it was time to chase some Jacks again this morning. After a slow start I eventually enticed a few out from the mangroves, including a couple of better ones around the 35 - 40cm mark. The colours if the fish vary a lot, from darker reds to lighter ones with more distin...

Re: Ebay braid line

I recently bought some Sea Lion braid off eBay (Melbourne seller) to try. While I am generally happy with the quality of the braid the diameters stated are waaay off. The 30# 0.22 mm braid measure 0.30 mm while the 20# 0.15 mm measure 0.25 mm. The colour and feel between the 2 braids also vary signi...

Re: At last - Tuna season arrived

Mainly use them for bait, never tried to eat them as I've read they're not the best eating.

Tally for the week was 5 Longtails, 3 Mack Tuna, 1 School Mackerel and a Remora. They seem to have moved a bit further offshore now, too far for me to reach with my kayak.

At last - Tuna season arrived

After months of wind blowing and it being to rough to get out on the ocean the weather finally came good. When I saw the weather looked fine on Tuesday night I loaded the kayak as I wasn't going to wait 'till the weekend, when the weather always seems to turn bad. Yesterday morning at first light I ...
