Re: Complete A$#&holes on Jetskis

Why is it you can be sitting in your kayak a couple of km offshore in the wide expanse of the Tasman Sea/South Pacific minding your own business with a couple of lines over the side and these wankers on jetskis have got to come at you and disturb the solitude with their wash, smell and noise? Couple...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

[/quote]Great to read you are putting in such big efforts and amazing to hear that an 84 year old paddler is still holding his own against a 60 year old spring chicken like yourself.... I can tell you're champing at the bit to get back into a glass fishing ski. Have you had any nibbles at the Revo s...

Re: 2015 Revolution 13 For Sale

Why are you selling it? Ok, an honest answer that may pizz people off concerning Hobies. 1. Downsizing to a smaller house with much less storage. 2. Going to get back into glass and essentially back to basics of what kayak fishing was when I first started many years ago. A yak, a paddle and trollin...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Haha... Cheers Paul. Yes, this marathon thing gets addictive. Last race of the season down in Wagga Wagga this weekend on Lake Albert. The old Bidgee is in flood so that's off the agenda. Speaking with Dennis T last week, the one thing I really miss since I got rid of my Pro Fisha 575 was the scream...

Re: Another 20+kilometre paddle

Well done Ricoh. Completed the Myall Classic Ultramarathon on Saturday Tea Gardens to 13.5km turning point up the Myall River and back. 27km all up in 3:05:23 with no breaks in a 25kg Mirage 580 Sea Kayak. Average speed 8.8kph and highest speed 11.4kph. Got into paddling long distances when I bought...

Re: My new weapon - long thin and made of glass

Not this time Yaqdog. Got a few mates competing. One just reported he got holed by another competitor and had to be rescued as he was drifting further out to sea. All ok now...but that's downwind racing.

Will ring you next week Dennis.

Cheers,
Mick

Re: My new weapon - long thin and made of glass

Seriously thinking of selling my 2015 Revo 13 and getting back into glass again (a Fisha 500). Seeing that I race in marathons offshore on a Stellar ski and inshore on a Vajda K1, pedalling 35kg + of Hobie just doesn't cut it anymore. Just want to get back to chucking my gear into the fish hatch, lu...

Re: Hobie Outback with sidekicks / outriggers

Have them on my 2015 Revo 13 (plus a sail kit). Any swell over a metre or substantial wind chop they work extremely well. Another advantage using them is that you can adjust the Vantage seat to its highest setting with great stability and greater comfort. Had them on my old 2012 Outback as well. Luc...

Re: 1st attempt and ocean kayak sailing....challenging !

Was running close hauled against a 35kph northerly and 1.5m NE wind swell 300m off the entrance to Wollongong Harbour in my Revolution 13 with sail kit and sidekicks just after lunch last Friday. Decided to come about and run with the wind and the following sea towards the entrance. Fatal beginner's...
