Re: Gents Day 18th March - CANCELLED

Went out this morning at 7:45 with a mate who was test paddling an ocean kayak (sit in). Probably would have been ok for a couple of hours between Flagstaff Point and Puckies. Get out of the lee of the headland and you would have had some fun and games. Talking to a couple of outrigger paddlers on t...

Thinking the same thing Brez. Didn't Rosco say something about it going Asian at the last meeting?

Anyway, will give it a try.

Re: Gents Day 18th March

Gday Gents Well the forecast is not looking good at all (we'll blame Rug as he mentioned it first) On Seabreeze it is showing 20knot Southerly winds and 2m seas. Not good conditions for offshore. A change of location might be in order. Possibly a more sheltered location of inshore. Open to suggesti...

Re: Is It Just Me ????

No... not just you TP. As we... ahem... mature... this becomes a big problem. Most of us won't admit it though.

I get over it by rigging up at home and using snap swivels whenever I can.

Been looking at the Surf to Summit range too. Like to see, touch and feel products before I buy them though. Anyone know of any dealers/distributors in the Sydney/Wollongong area?

Re: Wollongong 19-02

Got down to the harbour way, way to late to join the lads (thanks to half a bottle of Jacks the night before) . Informed by yakTTmax that Dom had had some success hooking a decent Mowie and had dropped another one as he was trying to grab his net and he was still out off Puckies. Decided to g...

Re: Seasickness

Same as Dodge... keep my focus on the horizon or scan around.

Only time I feel queazy is if I am baiting up, changing lures, etc and the yak is lifting up and down in an oily swell with no wind. After lifting head and scanning around the horizon... back to normal programming,

Re: how to get back into a sit on top kayak

Had an interesting lesson in this subject over the past couple of days. Having a couple of fishing yaks (Australis Lynxx and Barracuda Ultralight) I have as a matter of course practiced my re-entry skills. Now having a couple of very stable boats makes it somewhat easier with a bit of practice. All ...

Re: Blade Kayak Magazine - Issue 5

One of my biggest fears yakking in running creeks/rivers is entrapment on an underwater snag. Many years ago in a sit-in yak had the misfortune to go belly up in a flooded stream (young and stupid as we all were). Paddle got wedged in a snag along with my right arm. Fortunately the simple act of let...
