Do I need to get a running anchor for a Prowler? How are they for beach launch?

Re: Super trawler to remove 17 500 000 KG of fish

Worrying comment about the Margiris filling its catch in two shots and not making money:

Re: Hello from Berowra Heights

Hi Steve, I have a DAG Fishin sit-on-top and if it interests you, I'd be willing to let you or anyone else have a test paddle at The Entrance if you wish? Cheers Sydo Sydo, Thank you for your generous offer. At present, it is very different to the last time I bought a yak and I am trying not to bec...

Re: Which battery for electric motor

For me, marine batteries are nothing but a confusion of brand names and features. On top of that, I don't yet understand the terminology. I know how to research the web. I am being lazy - asking a question in the hope that someone with experience has solved it already. If someone has already researc...

Thank you, but for fitting through the Fish n Dive hatch, size is a major consideration. I need as many Amp/Hrs as possible that fits through the hatch, with minimal swearing needed to extract it again.

Re: who's towed a yak before??

Memories are fading but I think I towed my touring yak many years ago behind a putt putt. It has rope grab handles through the middle of the nose. If my memory is wrong, I did see a tow. Maybe in a relatively flat wide-bottom yak you could push the pace a little. However, wash seems a bad thing: htt...

Re: Best ways to rig Shark sheilds on the Yak ?

I am thinking about towing a black seal-shaped silhouette to give the Great Whites something to nibble on before me but might try the following instead. It looks like it would work every time ... provided you have a mate with a paddle board  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lycgfl2kQyY&feature=r...

Re: Which battery for electric motor

Ideally, the space behind the seat will be kept clear for other gear. I have no qualms about paddling for an hour or two or three... I just prefer to arrive at my chosen location 100% fit, so I wear myself out catching more or bigger fish  Hobie Outback is not yet fully off my purchase decisio...

Re: Hello from Berowra Heights

Welcome Steve. Did you ask C-Kayak Australia at West Gosford 4324 2867 They stock the Cobra fish and dive and seem very helpful. (I have no association with C-Kayak, other than purchasing my DAG Fishin sit-on-top from them some years ago.) Cheers Sydo Yes, I dropped in at C-Kayak last week. Zane co...

Is a shark shield money well spent? Does anyone who doesn't have a vested interest have any first-hand experience that it works, In particular agains the creature of my nightmares, the Great White? http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/03/17/1047749719519.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protecti...

Which battery for electric motor

I searched the archive but found no in-depth discussion on batteries. Since my plan includes taking my Yak on long trips along the coast, I need to find a battery that will give lot's of amp/hours but preferably fit under the floor of my (planned) Cobra Fish n Dive rather than use up above-deck spac...

Re: Born Again

At 64yr old, I was questioned as to my sanity when I bought her, particulalry as I have a knackered back I also have a sore spine and just retired (2nd time before turning 60). Bad back or not, sitting and waiting for fish to bite is a far better plan than sitting in God's waiting room. Toss in som...

Re: Sharks? Bah Humbug!

Saw one washed up on the beach near the mouth of Bemm river quite some time back. It was H-U-G-E. Unfortunately, no camera on hand. The Dingoes had a feast. Far worse than that were hundreds of old thongs washed up into the shrub!

Hello from Berowra Heights

Hi, Until work and family reduced the time available I was a mad keen rockhopper (I rate a 2.5Kg Luderick on 2Kg line on a rough day brought in through many projecting rocks as my best catch). We are soon moving to Eden and I will have the time to learn fishing again as a sport rather than a pastime...
