Re: multiple plastics on one line?

I think that the only issue that you'll face is legal restrictions on how many hooks per line. It's very similar in practice to a longline and they clearly work well. The great part of forums like these is you can raise a theory and get some feedback on how to refine and hone it into a workable form...

Re: Fishing Rod and Reel for my new Viking Reload

Braid capacity is a whole new kettle of fish! Cheap braid is quite a bit thicker than expensive braid for examle Platypus Platinum braid is 1.2 PE (the diameter) as opposed to Yamatoyo 12lb braid which is 0.6 PE, so Yamatoyo is half the diameter and 20% stronger. PE 1 is 0.1mm thick but can vary wil...

Re: Getting away from the goldy for a week

hi mate, I just got back from Yamba yesterday. It is a great place to take a camper/caravan and then head out for day trips. As Dennis has mentioned, Minnie Waters is bloody fantastic!! Also check out Brooms Head, Sandon, Red Cliff, Wooli etc all easily accessible from Yamba. Yamba has more stuff to...

Re: Fishing Rod and Reel for my new Viking Reload

You can easily fit a 2 piece 7' rod in the front hatch of the Reload. For the Port you should look at something in the 3-6kg or 4-7kg range. That's a pretty competitive point in the market so you'll easily find a great deal. 3-6kg would be fine for Wivenhoe as well. 10-12lb braid will be all you'll ...

Moffatts, Monday, Ocean swell, etc

G'day all, Yesterday we headed out off Moffatt beach in pursuit of Snapper and Sweetlip. As conditions weren't looking great off Coolum, a last minute change was taken to head for the relative safety of Brays via Moffatt, in tow were Jason form Viking, Matt from Somerset (the land where all and sund...

Re: What to spool on a ci4 1000

I use 3lb straight through fc when fishing light. Personally, I have found that the extra bit of stretch than braid results in more fish hooked and landed. 1000 size reels are too small for fc as the coils of memory are a problem unless you make a point to retrieve back with tension from your finger...

Re: Check out this 'Slow Jigging' Snapper Vid in NZ!! AMAZI

interesting stuff.. I throw a LOT of metal in the water and have noticed that often you get hits while dead-sticking the jig. I find it extremely frustrating as I put so much thought into how to use MicroJigs and then some lazy fish just bites it anyway... It didn't look like that jig dropped very f...

Re: In the market for a new rods .

There is the AFTA tackle show on in a week or so. It's where all the new products are released and lots of deals are done so there should be heaps of good rods on offer in about 2-3 weeks if you can wait that long. The price range and line class etc that you are looking at is easily the most competi...
