Re: G'day everyone

hi mate, first up, I sell these so take my advice with a grain of salt as I'm a bit biased.. The Espri is the kayak that I take out more than any other and I own quite a few Viking kayaks. They are light, durable, carry heaps and when you learn to paddle properly they are pretty quick, particularly ...

Re: Offshore fishing query

While I have seen other blokes hang around the headland and straight out from Moffats, that area is somewhere I only put about half an hour into either at the start or end of the trip. For me the biggest structure in that area is Brays and for that reason is my go to starting area. When i tell some...

Re: Offshore fishing query

I'm by no means an expert, and there are obviously regular exceptions to this, but I've always thought that current plays quite a big role in the presence of predators. If there are baitfish milling around with nothing to keep them there, I don't reckon that there will be a consistent aggregation o...

Re: Offshore fishing query

Plenty of times mate. In fact many times I've found the more bait fish there are around the harder it is to find bigger predators and other times when not much bait can catch the bigger fish. Marty It did dawn on me that the only way that there could be soooooo much bait is that there were no preda...

Re: Offshore fishing query

Devo! I guess thats fishing hey. Do you ever keep a few baits to freeze for next time? Or is there always an abundance of fresh available each outing? Cheers, Max Hey Max, there were some spearos there as well with nothing to show for their efforts so it was quiet on the big fish front! As for pike...

Re: Going from a Tinnie to a Yak...

G'day and welcome aboard, Yes it's true, I make AWESOME coffee!! We use organic, single origin, Columbian highland coffee roasted to perfection AND we sell Viking kayaks. Yesterday we were off Moffatt beach and had 2 400s and a Reload out on the water. I personally really like the 400 as its great o...

Offshore fishing query

G'day all, I've been devoting more time and effort to offshore fishing and have caught enough good fish to keep me coming back for more. Yesterday we were off Moffatt headland in very calm conditions (.6m swell, 5kt wind) and had no difficulty in finding HEAPS of Yakkas and Pike but very few bigger ...

Re: The great debate: To tether or not to tether?

I've always had my paddle tethered to the kayak regardless of where I fish. You should be able to stow your gear away for a surf launch/return which only leaves you and the paddle being disconnected from the kayak. In the high likelihood that you flip through the surf it means that you can recover y...

Re: New to kayak fishing

Thanks guys for your responses Been also looking at kayaks like the Malibu Sierra 10. Do you think they would be OK as a duel purpose yak for smaller creeks and rivers and also on water like Hinze dam as well? As a sit in kayak they seem to be a bit more open feel than some of the others I've seen....
