Re: Going from a Tinnie to a Yak...

Hey darbley , welcome aboard If the price isn't a issue I would go the reload . Imo that reload system would be a huge benefit . I have Viking profish 45 and the only reason I would up grade would be for that reload system . Lowrance elite hook or raymarine dragonfly would be good options . I have f...

Re: Hi

Hi Slippery welcome aboard . Plenty of good fishing on the north side for those willing to put in the time . Best thing to help bring up your fitness is just to go out for a paddle once or twice a week . Pulling against resistance is a bastard ! I use a drift chute often and paddling the kayak with ...

Re: Fishfinder/Plotter Combo

The most important bits of fishing gear on my kayak is the lowrance elite 4 dsi /plotter combo . I bought my kayak with a elite 4 dsi and the very first thing I did was sell it and upgrade to the combo with navionics . Very impressed by its performance for tis price . One thing you don't want to do ...

Re: New Kayaker from north bris vegas

I only got my yak last October , picked up a second hand Viking profish and am now addicted  Like you I am out one day every weekend and I try to get in a afternoon session during the wee...

Re: 1-3kg Spinning Combo

I would buy a symetre 1000 for around the 100 bucks and dump the rest into a awesome rod ! The symetre is a awesome little real for the price and imo for a kayak hard to beat . Cheap to replace if they die a salt water death ! A great rod will last forever if looked after . All my rods were custom m...

Re: Dealing with fish you catch?

Imo Lip grippers are important to have on the yak . I had been spiked a few by flathead , you know the ones that don't put up a fight until you land them . I don't even use a landing net on flathead these days I just lip grip from the side of the kayak . Lip grippers make handling most species a bit...

Re: Pine River abject failure

I have lived and fished near the pine for about 25 years and as some have said its hot and cold. I dont fish the pine often these days but I do ok fishing from deep water bend up bald hills creek . I never troll tho . Always casting to something , drains , drops offs , banks . . I have walked the ba...

Re: Kayak Depth Tactics

I use a sounder mainly for finding drop off and depth/changes of depth . They certainly are useful but certainly not essential . Muzza111 is on the money , low tide exploration will help a endlessly in finding fish and looking for water change , current being pushed up etc. Most of my best spots (le...

Re: Hi from the Pine rivers

Cant go wrong with a 2nd hand prowler Gunny . Anything over 4 meters will open up a HUGE amount of fishing ground, can be a little awkward to handle on your own but not a big issue . As damage said they a lot bigger then most people think , but the extra speed/ease of paddling makes it worth it imo ...

Re: Hi from the Pine rivers

Hi Gunny Welcome I was in a similar positon last year and picked a yak in October . I went second hand for mine as I didn't really know what I wanted out a yak and if it didn't work out I could move it on for what I paid for it. Just need to decide paddle or Pedal I picked a Viking profish 45 and se...

Congratulations on your success ! Lure fishing is all about confidence , something every newbie lacks due to experience .. Now you have nailed a few that will slowly change and you will start having confidence in what your lure and start catching more fish. Warning lure fishing can be a bit of a Pan...

Great looking yaks , I am sure I have seen yours around scarby/pirate park . Very nice set up ! I have had a second hand profish 45 for 3-4 months and have been impressed by it but have been eyeing the reloads and 400's . Love the reload system . What speeds do you get out of the 400 and did you hav...

Re: Help troubleshooting a lowrance 4 chirp

I'll be keeping my eye on this post, mine has the same problem, I have reset it to default and it is still doing it. I don't think it's a transducer problem, mine is permanently fitted inside the hull with marine goo. I do have a suspicion that it has something to do with hot weather, when I used i...
