hobie revo 11 vs 13?

#1 Post by J4SE » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:41 pm

Just wonder if anyone has an opinion on which one to go with for fishing in moreton bay and gold Coast broadwater?

I like the idea of having the extra length and speed of the revo 13 but is it a lot less stable than the revo 11?

Nope stability is the same or better on the 13, the 11 is just a shorter version of the 13, I've owned both (pre 2015 so before the vantage seating) there is a difference in the older models of 50mm in cockpit length ie from the back of the seat to the centre of the pedal drive and i did feel slightly cramped up on the 11 being 6ft 2, plus the 13 has a bigger payload and the front hatch is also larger.......can't go wrong with either but for fishing those two locations you mentioned I'd be going the revo13....

I have both and agree go the 13 it is more stable than the 11 and better all round. The 11 is also more twitchy so you need to correct it more to keep it strait when fishing.

Buy the Hobie 13, You wont regret it

The speed is much better than the 11 by a long shot.
The open & rough water capability is excellent
The storage space is better.

Its win win to buy the 13.

Main benefits of an 11 over a 13 is manhandling and easier launching in difficult access locations. 13 Gives more margin for rougher conditions in case you need it, ie greater flexibility.

Recently acquired a 2015 Revo 13 after owning a 2013 Outback and a 2012 Adventure Island.

Though I have only used it on a couple of occasions it is shaping up to be the best fishing yak I have owned. Recently installed a sidekick / ama kit and am using the sail I had with my Outback. A mate has the 11 and he is 6'. Agree with the previous comments that it looks and feels a bit cramped.

I have a Revo 11 as I am only 5' something. I have no issues with stability and speed has never been as issue especially with turbo fins. I have been on kayak camping trips with it and takes all my required load.

You won't be disappointed with either.
PB's from Yak:
Flathead 59cm, Bream 35cm,
Tailor 25cm, Moses Perch 28cm,
Wild Bass 40cm, Travelly 27cm,

Snapper 51cm, Impoundment Bass 40cm
Reef shark about 2m, Spangeld Emperor 28cm
Longtail Tuna 118cm, Spanish Mackerel 117cm
Wild Yellow belly 37cm.

There is nothing more relaxing than a day on the water in a Kayak.

The 11 turns on a dime and i have had it in places that in the 13 id be having to get the paddle out

the 13 is a much better kayak when conditions are rough

Yeah, noticed that complaint the other week Matto. What's the problem with the existing photo options???

Thought these photos of my Revo 13 came up alright at only 150Kb each. What more do people want? :lek:

I have had 2 13's with an 11 in between the 2...At 100 kg's I found the 11 to be a little nose heavy especially in choppy water and I used to get fairly wet...

will definitely be picking up a revo 13 over the next week or 2. Are the turbo fins worth the extra?

Haha I have come to terms with the fact that the photo uploader is never changing. Just going to have to get used to it
