My Fishing Jet Ski

#1 Post by Chopperdog82 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 2:27 pm

I didn't know where to put this. Mods, if it's not the right place please let me know, remove etc.

I've been fishing from a kayak for a few years. Recently bought a boat and hardly used it, so I sold it and bought a jet ski to fish from  Someone here asked for pics of it and I thought why not share with everyone. It's all fishing right, so members will get some joy out of it.

It's a new Yamaha fxho tricked out with lowrance elite ti 7, nav lights and raceteh tubbys. They're fibreglass pods that give you hundreds of litres of storage, railblaza star ports with cannon rod holders, 4 more stainless rod holders, dry tackle storage, bait boards on top, cup holders and a livewell. One of the yellow containers is plumbed direct to the yamaha tell tale.

I haven't had it long so only used it on the foreshore at margate. Still getting the offshore gear together. It's heaps of fun though. I took it for a night session and the bay glassed off, so I did 50 knots on the way home in the dark :lek: It goes quicker bit I'm not game.

Last week of October I'll be towing it to Sandy Cape at Fraser Island for 6 days of trolling. All going well we'll get into spanish, yft, wahoo, sails, billfish etc. I'll upload some pics and vids from the trip.

Safa has exactly the same setup and am envious as they fish some good spots a bit too far to paddle, he also has a rod holder for trolling placed just in front of where your knee would be I've got a pic somewhere

Identical! Is he brisbane based as well?? I have seen one on the road before with the pods. Might have been him. Around Bracken Ridge.

About 25k with all the fruit. I ticked all the optional boxes though. Upgraded trailer, fancy lights, sounder installed at dealer etc. Pods are 3k because there's one guy in the country doing them and he can charge what he likes

Wow sweet. Jetski fishing is really popular in NZ, plenty of vids from there and even a few TV series on ski fishing. If I moved back there I'd likely set myself up with one as well.

I have seen you fishing near garrets before , thought it was odd to see a jetski slow down and give a wave and nod , now I know why lol
Looks like beast , I am sure you will have many memorable sessions.

Yeah mate fishermans etiquette. Not all jet ski owners are wankers. Just most of them

I've fished from a kayak for years. I hear what you're saying.
