Moreton Bay 11/9/2016

#1 Post by TJofTheBay » Tue Sep 13, 2016 7:22 am

G'day all

I have been in nutting out my local area for the past 6 months trying to put the pieces together for the snapper puzzle . Had great success early on in my ventures but come June-july size and numbers dropped dramatically . The action has picked up over the 3-4 weeks and had been starting to see so fish up to 50cm .
After all the easterly winds last week I had high hopes for sunday morning but feared with the good weather the boats would be out in numbers . To my shock they weren't . Woohoo :gu:

Hitting a few spots with light spin gear chucking the ever faithful osp power dunk and some soft vibs we managed to land a few screamers . Unsure on the length as I forget to bring my measuring tape but both where the width of the yak there abouts so around 70-80 cm , released to fight another .Had some undersize and just legals thrown in the mix and managed a nice bream on a top water on the way in before calling it a day .
Gorgeous morning on the water and hardly any boats :)
Had a few mates with me that morning so managed to get some pics . Usualy I just run a gopro but for obvious reason don't post the vids .
Cheers
Troy

I like the comment about Brisbane snapper the owner ( Mark I think his name is ) of tackleland formerly Sandgate tackleworld made once , a snapper of this size and quality is not comparative to snapper of similar sizes in known snapper areas in NSW and South Australia , with the pressure on Brisbane fishery , a snapper of this size is a real coupe , well done on a really nice snapper

Thanks for the kind words everyone .
Since kayaking I am shocked how shallow good snapper like this will go .
No boats around makes a huge difference in the shallows and gives more fishing options . Usually my fishing plan when I hit the water is see where the boats are and stay away from the boats
Best part of it all was sharing the experience with a few mates .
