first spanish mackerel

#1 Post by mirage583 » Wed Jul 11, 2018 12:12 pm

Got my first spanish mackerel one Friday morning mid May, I had to wait for my son to come home from Uni to help me attach this photo.tried something new. slow trolled a 30 gram Spanyid Bite it metal lure back up current over a reef , half way through second troll and the mack hit the lure , using a fin nor lethal LT 40 reel with 20 lb braid it took about 5 minutes to see the leader and then the mackerel. Over the last two seasons I've been out many times trying to get that first mackerel . Finally got the monkey off my back It went 10 kilos and was very good eating .
