Some fish from my last few outings ..... back on the water

#1 Post by arpie » Sun Jun 03, 2018 7:15 pm

Hi Guys

I've been a bit quiet over the last couple of months - after the radiation finished, I was a bit stuffed for a while, then went to Norfolk Island for a 'break' and LOVED IT - snuck a travel rod in the case with some lures & got one 'hit' - tho sadly, it was just too rough to do any real fishing there.

Then they've put me onto tablets that are taking me straight back to full on Menopause symptoms (YAY! .....NOT!) So not sure how this will effect me, as I've only been on them for a few weeks now. I had 10 years of it from age 45-55 & didn't enjoy it much then, so don't think I'll enjoy it 2nd time around either!

SO .... I am back on the water - still getting fish on topwater - they haven't really been very active on my usual divers - so a tad disappointed there! :?:

Michelle came up for a few days & we got out a few times - and also Kim (previously from Canberra, now the South Coast) so that was terrific catching up with them again.

SO ..... here's some of my recent fish. I reckon I've dropped more than I landed! LOL :bye:

Upside down Whiting - brain is fuddled too - can't remember why I took the pic like this!

Welcome back.. nice to see your reports again...I get nervous seeing how close the trebles are to your hand with a live fish on the other end... you must have them well trained to pose for your photos
Cheers

Thanks, guys - i was hoping to get out tomorrow & have a go but the weather is looking VERY ordinary!! No point going out in the cold & wet!! You'll just get ill!!

So hopefully, it will settle down later in the week & I'll be able to get out again! grrrrr

Tight lines & stay safe! Lots of BIG surf up along the East Coast!

Nice to see your reports are on again. I followed your lead and bought some greedy guts, crackajacs, and a few others you mention so if they work thank you and if they don't damn you. Hee hee! Les :lek:

Glad to see you’ve been getting a few , hows your mojo been in general ? I find my mojo is tied to how I feel in my self if If I’ve been unwell or I’ve got life dramas / challenges I find my mojo goes right out the window

...I followed your lead and bought some greedy guts, crackajacks,....

Hey Les - you shouldn't be disappointed!! Just cast them in 'likely spots' ..... near structure & weed beds etc - and SLOW down the retrieve (with lots of pauses.) They suspend, so even if you are not retrieving them, they'll be going 'with the flow' & will still get whacked!! You don't strike til you feel the weight of the fish!! Sometimes, they'll 'nibble it' 3 or 4 times before 'finding the hook'!!

PATIENCE, Grasshopper!!

Thanks Jamie - yeah - my mojo HAS been a bit hit & miss recently - the odd outing with NOTHING - not even a SNIFF at the lure & I know the fish are there! :beye: Maybe I just wasn't concentrating? Things can only get better, I reckon!!

I have a small Suzuki Ute .... easy to stow the yak on the back and launch directly into the water at boat ramps. I also have some Grassy spots near the water so don’t often have to use my wheels.
