First Murray Cod in the yak

#1 Post by rocky » Thu Dec 06, 2018 9:19 pm

Well finally got to go fishing after 3 months on the sidelines. Set the van up at Lake Mulwala for a couple of days in the hope of getting a cod. Day one went out in the morning and afternoon with no hit after dragging a dozen different lures around the trees. Day two only did a morning session getting out about 5, this time I mixed up trolling and casting at timber but no luck until I headed up into the shallows 0.5m looking for surface action but none so grabbed the heavy Bream stick with a shallow 45mm atomic and third cast hooked into a 63cm Cod, yeah my first one. Maybe the fish were quite as the Cod classic was on last weekend with over 600 fish caught. Another camper in a cabin caught a 1.4m fish off the bank using bait, he was fishing in style, sitting a deck chair, a red wine and set rod.
Fish released to grow bigger and occupy a log.
Also added a sunrise pic and a couple of the local Corellas in their tree, most trees had a pair of Corellas or Cockatoos

Cheers & Beers
