Murray Cod on Fly

#1 Post by Spinman » Tue Jul 08, 2014 5:09 pm

I couldn't get the yak into this water so hopped onto the bank to try my hand at catching Murray Cod on Fly. The pattern is a small surface popper in pink, black and red. Only caught a small one this time (lucky since it was on my 7 weight trout gear) but lots of fun and another one ticked of the To Do list. Now to catch a bigger one on fly

Matto,

Did you head to NSW chasing Cod? Have been looking at chasing them myself. Was thinking out Warwick way.

At least it wasn't a waste, enjoying the scenery is always good when you are not catching any fish. Let me know when you are going wouldn't mind coming along. Probably couldn't do 4 days though but might be able to make a couple

Kunde and Matto don't stop at Warwick - another couple of hours driving and you are into some seriously good MC country around the townships of Deepwater, Dundee and Glen Innes. Deepwater River and The Severn River have been stocked in the past but now there's plenty of breeding happening naturally.

Thanks for the tip Spinny, I have been doing a bit of research and hadn't had much luck on where to start. This helps heaps

I know someone who wants to get on on fly

Good looking fly. Can you pop up a shot of the fly just by itself.

Thanks for sharing,

Well done mate, wouldn't mind a look at that fly on it's own as well. Is that a shank to the hook?
