Juvenile Cod?

#1 Post by Yak2it » Mon Jun 26, 2017 12:04 pm

Hi all - I caught this on the Dumaresq river casting spinner baits off the bank, I was thinking it was a Juvenile Murray Cod?

It was just over the 20cm mark. I Have caught small cod here before but they still have the green colouring, this one was very silver.

cheers
Pete

Nope. That's a Spangled Perch. Aggressive little bugger too, hitting a lure that big!

My first thought was Spangled Perch, glad someone else corroborated that as I'm not sure about the fish down that way. The ones I catch here are usually quite a bit smaller and put up a handy, albeit brief, fight on light line. They are pretty handy Barra bait!
