Campsite recommendations up to 2.5hrs from Sydney.

Tell us about a spot that you have fished, it's suitability for yak fishing, amenities, parking, costs, rules & regs, type of fish, launching, etc etc.

Campsite recommendations up to 2.5hrs from Sydney.

#1 Post by Nudgie » Tue Jun 17, 2014 3:29 pm

Hey all,

A few mates and I are organising a camping/fishing trip at the beginning of July and just looking for some tips on spots near water?

We're looking at travelling around 2 to 2.5 hrs from Sydney in basically any direction that there's fish. A key point we'd like is seclusion, if possible!

Any recommendations appreciated :)

Cheers!

Go onto groupons and check out their hugely reduced weekend deals for holiday parks around Port Stephens area
I got a cabin for 2 nights for the family in a very nice holiday park with all trimmings for $119
Plenty of fishing up Port Stephens / Nelsons Bay Area

Bones

Sounds like you should consider Myall Lakes National Park. There are heaps of proper campsites, which are by definition secluded.

Lake Lyell fits the bill nicely I reckon http://bluemountainsfishing.net/lyell.html

Kayak fishing isn't a sport. It's much more serious than that.

Cheers guys, all booked.

Now I just need to do some research on how to fish fresh water as I've never tried for trout or bass before!
