yep was a great little fishery - I used to cringe every time I saw mention of it on a fishing forum - very few people fished it.

had some fantastic late arvo/evening popper sessions out there. and yep had been stocked (supported by council) for many years sporadically.

and true, was Kiama water supply managed by the state, handed over to council when pipes were est. and pulled down as it was costing a bomb to maintain due to dam wall deficiency. Small population downstream (perhaps 10 houses) built stupidly close to the water course and will just empty out on to the Jamberoo floodplain.

Usually see fish kills in the paddocks after rain like this anyhow after it recedes - given farmers have reduced the Minnamurra river to a network of drainage canals......

Yes its spilling over as we speak. best to throw a lure into the paddacks downstream as they may hold fish in a few days / weeks. crazy scenes at the moment.

Definitely a floodplain now. Yesterday was the largest I have seen it in decades.

That said, being a very regular ski paddler and kayak fisher on the Minnamurra, a few of us were only remarking last week that the river was in a bad state as it was silting up and needed a big flush. Well we have certainly copped a good flush.

Took this photograph at the Entrance at the top of the tide late yesterday afternoon. Inflows into the system of 3,579mL... normally 1.25mL.

yeah will be good to see the effect of the flush, was getting crazy shallow up on the bridge corner and back straight.
