Yeah Adam, your right. Hobie and Stealth are two different animals.

There is a reason I have gone that way. I can’t take the Hobie Adventure Island (AI) through the surf zone, gotta launch from a headland.
So I got the best, lightest, fastest, sexyist, yak to do the surf zone entries and retrieves. In my opinion, that’s by far the Stealth 525.
For this situation Hobie hasn't got anything that will match it. Stealth has storage for a 7' rod under the hatch for going out and coming in, is so light I can carry it on my shoulder, and I can cruise it at 6 kph with little effort.

Mind you, if I wish to troll for bill fish at 15 kph I wouldn't go past the AI. It has a range and payload second to none so yak camping for 7 days is a breeze, and it can get up to 12 knots. See Yakass vids on camping at Fraser Island. Couldn't do that on a 525.

The right tool for the right job.

Good attitude Bobby, no point being tied to just one camp for the sake of it. Use whatever is best for the job.

15km/hr is pretty fast on the AI. I see the odd video of elite surf ski guys bursting above that but it is downwind catching waves & they are working for it.

Must be a hoot on the AI letting the wind do the work.

I haven't done any sailing before so I don't know what speeds are normal. I have seen some small sailboats on the water with hydrofoils before though & as soon they lifted their hulls out of the water & got on to the foils, they took off.

Adam, 15kph is about a medium to high speed for an AI (depending on wind). We had a guy Jeff that worked at Wetspot that was clocked at 24 kph on Lake Burley Griffin (on a 2010 hull). He was going so fast that you could hear the dagger board humming against the hull as he passed. A bit fast to fish for mine.
He was a great bloke, would do anything, absolutely crazy.

I'd love to own one. They're pretty quick, but, wind surfers are the quickest, unless your doing this sort of thing!!!!!!!!

We're getting away from fishing here and the camping subject.

Just picked up my Sea to Summit inflatable pillow so I'll put up some more pix tomorrow or Sunday.

This pillow will save me soooooooo much room, is silky to touch, and so comfortable to sleep on.

Beaut silky soft to sleep on and as you can see, very small and light to carry. Saves heaps of space. Before I bought this pillow I was using two normal bed pillows.
You can see how much space I'm saving.

Ok, now I have started doing a bit more brain storming with Kickass lighting and Yeti ice bricks.
Im doing a week at South Durras (at Lakesea) on the 15 Oct (if anyone is interested coming out off shore for a fish, come along) and deploying my new purchases. I'll be taking the Stealth 525 and the Adventure Island.

Ok, I had a very successful trip to South Durrass. I can't believe the fishing was so good in the lake. Off shore was not so good, just rockcod and a few bonnies, however, the flathead in the lake were going off.

The Kickass lighting was fantastic, and everything I thought it was going to be.

The Yeti ice bricks (I was somewhat a sceptic), but, I'm a convert now. They are expensive, but, I've never seen "ice bricks" freeze water to ice again and, freeze it to the bottom of tinnies.

It made my Ice last 3 times longer.

Hey, I work at a place that sells this product (Yeti), but, I diddn't think it would do so well........... For what It's worth.

I'm looking forward to South West Rocks next year.
